Château Troplong Mondot - Saint-Émilion

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé 2011

Region: Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France

Grape: Merlot 90%, Cabernet Sauvignon 5%, Cabernet Franc 5%

Tasting: Black Plum / Blackcurrant / Chocolate / Truffle / Cedar / Full Bodied / Long Finish

Pairing: Beef Wellington / Slow Braised Lamb Shoulder / Black Truffle Risotto / Confit Duck / Aged Comte

Producer: Château Troplong Mondot occupies one of Saint-Émilion's highest points, with its 33-hectare vineyard sitting atop the limestone plateau at 110 meters above sea level. The estate has seen remarkable investment and improvement since the Pariente family's acquisition in 2017, though its reputation for powerful, concentrated wines was well established under the previous ownership of Christine Valette-Pariente, who drove quality to new heights from the 1980s onwards.

2011 was characterised by unusual weather patterns, with a very warm spring leading to early flowering, followed by a cooler summer. Careful vineyard management was crucial, with selective harvesting essential to achieve optimal ripeness. The result is a wine that shows impressive concentration while maintaining freshness and balance.
