Grana Padano DOP

The world's best-selling PDO cheese, Grana Padano is a hard Italian cheese made from raw cow's milk in the Po Valley region of northern Italy. Aged for 12 months, this DOP-certified cheese develops its characteristic granular texture and rich, nutty flavour that has made it a favourite in kitchens worldwide. The name reflects its origins — "grana" meaning grainy texture in Italian, "padano" referring to the Pianura Padana (Po Valley) where it's exclusively produced.

This versatile hard cheese excels both as a table cheese for eating and grating over pasta, risotto, and salads. Its complex flavour profile balances sweet and savoury notes with a pleasant sharpness that intensifies with age. The traditional production methods, using partially skimmed raw milk and natural whey starters, create the distinctive texture and depth of flavour that sets authentic Grana Padano apart from imitations.

Producer: Made exclusively by DOP-certified producers in the Po Valley region according to strict production specifications. About 150 dairy producers make Grana Padano in the Po Valley area, all following traditional methods that require the cheese to be aged for a minimum of 9 months before certification. Production is regulated by the Grana Padano Protection Consortium to ensure authenticity and quality.
